Meet the Nine Outstanding Varieties Crowned Best in Class at SAF’s 136th Annual Convention

One of the longest-running floral conventions in the U.S., the Society of American Florists (SAF) Annual Convention, has finally taken place after a year-plus long, pandemic-induced hiatus. Now in its 136th year, the 2021 Orlando installation has provided over 350 industry professionals with a COVID-friendly platform to "reconnect, recharge and get inspired"—and return home refreshed and ready to capitalize on today's biggest floral trends.

By far, one of the most anticipated events of each SAF convention is the Outstanding Varieties Competition (OVC). This world-renowned competition offers a center stage for elite growers to showcase their finest floral products. Judged by a panel of experts, each entry is scored on specific criteria, ranging from bloom size and form to color and commercial appeal. Awards for Best in Show, Best in Class, and Blue and Red ribbons are presented to the top-ranking varieties.

This year, among 146 entries from 24 participating growers, Danziger was awarded the coveted honors of both Best in Show and Best in Class (Chrysanthemum category) for a deep pink daisy, 'Amor™ Candy'. It is the second time in OVC history that a Chrysanthemum brings home a Best in Show win.
